SUMMARY:ARIDO Webinar – Update on the Examination Alternative Project
DESCRIPTION:The Association of Registered Interior Designers (ARIDO) will be holding a webinar on Thursday\, January 25\, 2024\, at 3 p.m. EST to provide an update on the Examination Alternative Project (EAP) including a first look at the proposed Canadian Alternative to the current exams. \nARIDO will provide information on the next steps within the project which includes an opportunity for ARIDO members\, designers from other provincial jurisdictions\, and non-members who are practicing in Canada\, to participate in an Open Comment Period to provide feedback on the proposed alternative requirement to the current examinations. \nPre-requisite For the Call \nAll participants wishing to join the call on Thursday\, January 25 are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the project objectives. A pre-recording of an Information Session held on April 28\, 2023\, explaining the project objectives can be found here on the ARIDO website. \nFor all other updated and current details on the EAP project\, please visit our website at www.arido.ca. \nWhy A Canadian Alternative? \n\nARIDO has agreed with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) that an alternative to the NCDIQ exams should be developed as a Canadian option in relation to the future Direct Regulation Model.\nThis Canadian Alternative would be a second option\, in addition to the NCIDQ exams\, for satisfying ARIDO’s examination requirement.\nTo this end\, ARIDO has launched the Examination Alternative Project to develop a Canadian Alternative to the current NCIDQ exams. The goal is to ensure a fair and equitable path to qualification as an Interior Designer in Ontario.\n\nWho can attend this webinar? \nWe encourage you to share this webinar invite with your network\, including individuals who are designers in all Provincial jurisdictions in Canada. We value feedback from designers of all backgrounds as part of our commitment to advancing equity\, diversity\, and inclusion in the profession. \nRegister for the Zoom call \nRegistration is now open! \nAll participants wishing to attend the session are required to pre-register. Once you pre-register\, you will receive the Zoom meeting ID and Passcode which will be sent to the email you used upon registering. \nQuestions Regarding the EAP Webinar? \nPlease reach out to Daniel Zanth at assessment@arido.ca or Sharon Portelli\, Executive Director and Registrar at ARIDO at sportelli@arido.ca.
