SUMMARY:CEU Webinar: The Truth About Wood - The Environmental Benefits of Specifying Certified Sustainable Wood Products
DESCRIPTION:Presentation Summary: \nBuilding material specifiers such as interior designers hold considerable power\, and have enormous responsibility for making consequential decisions that affect our planet and its environment. This course will explain the environmental importance of sustainable forest management\, forest certifications\, chain-of-custody certifications\, forestry carbon cycles\, certified sustainable wood products\, and how to spot greenwashing claims by some manufacturers. Specifiers and influencers are in a position to make a positive impact by aligning their values with those of sustainability – putting pressure on manufacturers\, who in turn put pressure on lumber suppliers\, who in turn put pressure on loggers and landowners to value sustainability and sustainable forests. \nAfter finishing this course\, presented by CRAFT Artisan Wood Floors\, attendees will be able to make informed decisions when specifying wood products. In addition to learning how to spot greenwashing\, attendees will gain a solid understanding of wood product certifications\, and be able to have confidence when specifying wood products that their decisions will align with the values of sustainability and protection of the planet’s forest ecosystems. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand the role that forests play in our lives\, and the important role they play in combating Climate Change.\nLearn about the different third-party forest certification organizations and Forest Management Standards.\nLearn about Chain of Custody certification and specifying for products made from sustainable wood sources.\nLearn how to spot greenwashing claims made by some wood product manufacturers\, and how to identify the manufacturers who are fully committed to sustainable sourcing. Furthermore\, attendees will discover where to find certified wood\, and how to incorporate it into project specifications.\n\nThis webinar amounts to one IDCEC credit. \nSecure Your Spot\nPresenter: \nRod Gray\nPresident\nCRAFT Artisan Wood Floors \nRod Gray has been in the wood business for more than 20 years. Having\, from a young age\, been concerned with responsible environmental stewardship\, Rod has spent years studying the issues of how forest practices relate to climate change\, and as the President and Chief Sustainability Officer of CRAFT Artisan Wood Floors\, he has been able find a way to reconcile the demands of running a profitable wood manufacturing business with the values of sustainability and corporate environmental and social responsibility. \nThis webinar is presented by:
