DESCRIPTION:As we honour the contributions of Canadian designers during National Indigenous History Month\, join IDC for a special presentation on how to incorporate Indigenous perspectives and elements into design projects. \nPresentation: Designing Reconciliation\nAs professionals who work in culturally relevant and meaningful spaces\, how do we best learn\, incorporate\, and allow Indigenous ideas and practices to thrive in those spaces? Jennifer will talk about how to incorporate Indigenous ideologies and teachings into daily processes\, along with creating work that isn’t afraid to celebrate the amazing complexity of Indigenous culture and history. She will also touch on her firm’s approach to accessibility and sustainability within that framework for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous designers. \nPresenter:\nJennifer Taback\nPartner\nDesign de Plume \nJennifer Taback is an urban\, Indigenous member of Shawanaga First Nation and partner at Design de Plume. She sees herself as a visual translator\, helping to bridge connections and use emerging technology to facilitate dialogue\, increase understanding\, and make some cool stuff along the way. With 15 years of experience in the field\, DDP’s current roster of clients includes the ROM\, RBC\, and Johns Hopkins University in the US.
